FloSports CMS Evaluation and Integration

As FloSports' business rapidly expanded, they began facing significant challenges with their existing content management system (CMS). Built over the course of more than a decade, the aging CMS had reached its architectural limits. Frequent engineering delays hindered FloSports’ ability to swiftly adapt to new business demands, particularly as they acquired new companies and sought to stay competitive against emerging streaming platforms.

Recognizing these critical challenges, FloSports sought a solution that could both modernize their CMS capabilities and seamlessly integrate with their existing operations. Synctree was brought in to assess the situation and chart a new path forward.

CMS Evaluation

Synctree began by conducting a thorough evaluation of several third-party CMS providers, including Contentful, Sanity, Dato, and others. Each option was assessed against FloSports’ specific needs, such as scalability, flexibility, and ease of integration. A key requirement was that the new CMS would not require in-house hosting, as FloSports wanted to reduce the overhead associated with managing their own platform.

After careful consideration, Synctree identified Contentful as the ideal fit for FloSports. Contentful’s robust feature set, cloud-based hosting, and flexibility aligned perfectly with FloSports' goals. It offered the specific functionalities they needed while also providing the scalability required to support their growing business.

Integration and Implementation

With Contentful selected as the CMS provider, Synctree moved forward with the integration process. One of the major challenges was the need to maintain stability within FloSports' existing operations. The legacy CMS, though outdated, was still in active use, and any disruption could have serious consequences.

Synctree adopted a pragmatic approach to the integration, carefully planning and executing the transition to ensure minimal disruption. The new Contentful platform was integrated with FloSports' OneFlow Platform (OFP), allowing the two systems to work in parallel. This enabled FloSports to begin utilizing the new CMS immediately, while still maintaining the legacy system.

Throughout the process, Synctree was meticulous in ensuring that the adoption of the new CMS did not compromise the stability of the existing platform. The phased approach allowed FloSports to gradually transition to the new system, providing their teams with time to adapt while minimizing risk.

Outcomes

The successful integration of Contentful allowed FloSports to overcome the limitations of their old CMS. The new platform provided the flexibility and scalability needed to support their ongoing growth and competitive positioning in the streaming industry.
